Taste and odors

Most people do not drink enough water because it doesn't taste good and they defer to unhealthy sweet tasting drinks that diminish rather than increase their body’s water supply.

Causes of bad taste and odor
Apart from the health risks microbiological growth in the drinking water distribution system, chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, chlorine and volatile organic compounds may cause unwanted taste and odor in - water, and possible health risk.

Chlorine
Chlorine on its own in water has an undesirable taste and odor Treatment Plants add chlorine at P.O.E. (Point of Entry) to remove germs and ensure they don't re-appear while the water travels many miles through the pipes to your tap (P.O.U. ...Point of Use). Chlorine impairs taste and odor plus there is a definite chance that it can combine with organic compounds to produce chlorinated hydrocarbons that may lead to health related problems.

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and food
Water is a very good natural solvent and helps develop the aroma of coffee and tea. The amount of temporary hardness (lime scale) in the water affects the dissolution of aromatics, for example in tea and coffee. The higher the proportion of lime scale in the water, the lower is the ability to dissolve. With low scale content in drinking water, the aroma of tea and coffee develops better, as does that of cooked foods.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration system
Reverse Osmosis systems removes all the vital natural healthy minerals, lacks oxygen has a flat taste, which is why it is mostly recommended for use in industrial processes.
